The Australian Jewish Democratic Society (AJDS) is pleased to announce an upcoming film event in conjunction with the Jewish International Film Festival – A screening and panel discussion around the Israeli director Dror Moreh’s Academy-Award nominated documentary The Gatekeepers.
The film features interviews with all surviving former heads of Shin Bet, the Israeli security agency whose activities and membership are closely held state secrets. The Gatekeepers was inspired by Errol Morris’ excellent Fog of War and is essential viewing for anyone interested in the politics of war and terrorism.
The post-film specialist academic panel includes award-winning writer and philosopher Raimond Gaita (Romulus My Father), Policy Analyst and former Military Correspondent at the IDF Or Avi-Guy and Lecturer in Israel and Middle-Eastern studies Randall Geller. The discussion will be moderated by Mark Baker, author of The Fiftieth Gate and Director of the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation.
