Support the Djap Wurrung Heritage Protection Embassy now!
Minister for Roads Luke Donnellan and the Labor state government are planning to destroy Djap Wurrung sacred trees that sit among a highly sensitive and significant landscape, as part of the Vicroads Western Highway duplication project. There has been a monumental failure of consultation with the community.
Since the 17th of June a Djap Wurrung embassy has been on site to protect their cultural heritage. So far they have managed to stall works.
Urgent pressure is needed to convince Luke Donnellan not to desecrate Djap Wurrung Country.
The geographical region of the development proposal contains 750 recorded cultural heritage sites, a third of which are scarred trees. Some trees are older than 700 years.
There is another potential route which is cheaper, faster, and will protect this area.
Please take a moment to sign and send a letter to Luke Donnellan asking him to revoke plans for the current route and a process for an alternative route be initiated
Support the Embassy’s campaign and write an urgent letter to Luke Donnellan (Minister for Roads and Planning), and Nigel Powers (VicRoads North-West Project Manager) now.
