Naomi Chazan has had a long career on the left of Israeli politics, being elected to the Knesset on the Meretz list in 1992. She is also a distinguished academic, having specialised in African studies. She has been regularly targeted by the Israeli right and right-wing Australian Zionists for all manner of ‘unpatriotic’ activities. The neo-fascist organisation Im Tirzu doctored a photo of her with devils’ horns. In fact, she prefers chocolate.
Head, Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace, Hebrew University Member, Israel Delegation to UN Conference on Women, Nairobi (1985), Beijing (1995) President of the Israeli branch of the Society for International Development. Founder and Member of the Board of the Israel Women’s Network Vice President of the International Association of Political Science. Naomi helped found the International Women’s Commission for an Israeli-Palestinian Peace.
