Annual dinner 2019

Please join us for a wonderful evening where we come together to celebrate our small (but growing) AJDS community 🍷

We are honoured and excited to be joined by guest speaker Madeline Wells from SEED.
Madeline is a Palawa/Koorie woman who grew up in Tasmania. After spending the last 5 years volunteering for the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network, she has recently started her role in Melbourne as Seed’s first Fundraising and Partnerships Manager.
She is Waratah-Wynyard Young person of the Year for 2019 in her home town, and was a finalist for Young Tasmanian of the year for 2020. She is committed to human rights, First Nations rights, and climate justice.
We are thrilled to also have Yoram Symons booked in to bedazzle us with his thought provoking and soul reaching spoken word performance, and multilingual poet Charles Kaplan.
This year our dinner will be catered by a dedicated team of West Papuans, so not only will we experience delicious West Papuan delights, but all catering profits go directly to the campaign for a free West Papua.
Our annual dinner* is an opportunity for our community to reconnect and for us to raise some money to help us cover costs for the next year.
Everyone is welcome!
Please let us know if you need help in covering the cost of your ticket.
As with previous years, we have ‘pay it forward’ tickets on our ticketing page, where you can pay for a ticket to allow one of our allies to come.
The venue is wheelchair accessible and has plenty of parking on site. It is a 350m walk from the 64 tram on Hawthorn Rd.
For any further questions please contact our community organiser, Yael at [email protected]
*all AJDS events are introvert friendly

We acknowledge this event is being held on the land of the Kulin Nations, who never ceded sovereignty to their land, and who continue to struggle for justice today.
